Namur’s citadel is no longer lying in the dark ages.

Charleroi's new shopping centre, Rive Gauche, had a successful October and November, attracted 620,000 visitors each month, new figures reveal.

The Toussaint weekend saw a 50% increase in ordinary visitor numbers, with an average of 35,000 shoppers per day.

Rive Gauche director Thomas Cornil said research suggested the shopping centre was attracting a young audience, with 60% of visitors under the age of 40. Families accounted for a third of visitor numbers.
